Jim Burden’s Grandfather was a Homebuilder in Northeastern North Carolina.    Carpentry naturally became a hobby at a young age … and eventually evolved into much more.

Shortly after college, Jim entered the construction industry in the 70’s.  Initially hired to perform labor functions in the Commercial arena, he quickly learned primary carpentry skills.   This technical knowledge, supported by his organizational skills led to promotions as Assistant Foreman and Foreman on a number of “build-outs” and renovations.

Jim’s interest gradually shifted more toward the Residential industry in the early 80’s when he was contracted to provide Carpentry services for a custom building company.  Within a year he was promoted to Assistant Superintendent, Site Superintendent, Assistant Production Manager and eventually Production Manager for one of the largest homebuilding companies in America.   Although the challenges of managing a large staff and being responsible for several hundred homes a year was invaluable to Jim’s residential building development, he wanted to build on a more personal level.

After obtaining a Virginia Class “A” Contractor’s License in the late 80’s, Jim started designing and building custom houses for individuals.   Through participating in several “Parade of Homes” showcase events, Jim developed an eye for detail which is evident in the new home and remodeling projects he designs and builds today.

What really sets Jim apart from most builders is his ability to listen to what his clients say and creatively design and build homes to meet and exceed their expectations.   If you are considering a truly Custom Designed and Built Home, Addition or Home Improvement, do yourself a favor and call Jim to arrange an in-home and no-charge informative meeting to discuss your needs and concerns.
